Welcome to OutHipHop.com

Our goal is to be the primary destination on the internet for ALL "out" hip hop artists (and their FANS) - an all inclusive home for Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals, Transgender (Male to Female AND Female to Male) artists who make ALL forms of rap and every variation of hip hop and are "out" with their sexuality. Rappers in the closet won't touch us with a 10" pole!

Our website will feature Interviews, News, Artist Directory,  Feature Stories, Bulletin Board, and Media for ALL known out artists, past and present. We will showcase new artists as well as feature editorials and stories from people who have been pioneers, back when it was called "homohop" or "gay hip hop".

"Microphone Influenza" - BENNI E: Reviewed by REX STONE

Artist: Benni E

Album: Microphone Influenza

Hometown: Philadelphia, PA

Website: http://www.myspace.com/bennipanama

The Good:

I applaud Benni E for taking the time to think about what she is doing. I can tell that this mix tape was planned and thought out. The sound is good it seems like studio quality. She just doesn’t go for the lazy same old style that a lot of lesbian rappers fall into just talking about why they like girls and what they are going to do to them. I feel her delivery and her flow; she definitely has a gift for this rap thing. This CD is going to be real hard to compete with. “I’m not frosting you can’t top me,” boast Benni E.

The Bad:

She needs to pick more complex tracks. I think that the beats that were used were simple for the Artist, in the fact that they all fit her style. I don’t necessarily think that is a problem but she has skills and she should showcase them a little more by using a wide variety of beats. I think that she is almost ready to make an original album once she steps it up. Too simplistic songs will make this artist sound just like a regular emcee and I don’t think that she is.

The Truth:

I think that Benni E is a lot better than some of her male counterparts in the game and she knows her style and genre and excels in that. She shouldn't play it safe when it comes to rapping and making songs. I feel the Midwest in her and that is what needs to come out, but maybe try more east coast or west coast tracks. My favorite cuts on the album are: “Call Me Daddy,” “Girlz To Church,” “Sickest Emcee,” and the bonus track “A Milli.” BenniE is going to make some of you artists step up your rap game, it’s serious.

The Recommendation:

Mash It continuously. If you don’t like this you don’t like yourself!
