“Diversifying Hip-Hop: Krip-Hop & Homo Hop”, playing at NYU in New York on October 16th has put out a call to artists for submissions. Please email  kriphopproject@yahoo.com to submit.

On October 16th NYU will presents “Diversifying Hip-Hop: Krip-Hop & Homo Hop” that started last year with Leroy Moore founder of Krip-Hop Nation.  It was so much a hit that NYU invited Leroy and crew to bring it to NYU.  This program explores two emerging offshoots of the Hip-Hop movement, “Krip Hop” and “Homo Hop.” Bringing together academics, performers and community activists, the event will explore these sub-cultures, gathering leading figures from both cultural phenomena to examining their place within Hip-Hop culture(s) and their invitation to a more diverse audience.

“Diversifying Hip-Hop: Krip-Hop & Homo Hop” will consist of a showing/discussion of three documentary films, Kathleen Kiley’s “Halfasoulja”, 4Wheel City (Of New York) entitled “The Wheels in Me” Keith Jones’ documentary, Keith Jones: Un-Rapping Disabilities and Alex Hinton’s “Pick Up The Mic: The Revolution of Homohop"; live performances; and a panel of speakers.  Artists and speakers will be coming from as far as Berkeley, California, Kalyn of Wheelchair Sports Camp from Denver, CO., the moderator of the event, Khalil Amani is from Miami, FL and right here in the Big Apple like Sue-Elise Peeble of People With Teeth, Hip-Hop Mental Health Project, Deaf DJ, DJ Supalee AND MORE!
 
The moderators of the event will be Khalil Amani and Leroy Moore. Amani is one of hip-hop's most controversial bloggers for his advocacy of gay rappers entering mainstream. Although he is very much heterosexual (straight)--nationally and internationally he is known as gay hip-hop's "Spiritual Advisor."

Kaoz returned to OUTing The Music Industry hosted by Dj SirRah to drop the completion of the "Fight Club" trilogy; The Tyler Durden Mixtape.  The mix-tape is a the follow up to the previously released Project Mayhem Vol 1.5 and the recently released Tyler Durden ExPerience (EP).  The mix-tape, hosted by DJ Swanny River consists of collaborations with Baron, Granthm, Alicia Leafgreen, and the All Out Grimey Boy Click; along with plenty of shout-outs to many in the OUT Hip-Hop community.  Kaoz spoke with SirRah about his beat and collaboration selections. the concept behind the trilogy. and his conscious effort to eliminate the "N" word from his vocabulary. Fielding questions from singer O*Day, producer Eddy J. Free, and major label recording artist Brian Slade, Kaoz gave important advice and analogies of the OUT music community and life.  You can listen and download the show here.

Cali's Don Cheetah is ready to get back in the booth and rap again! Prince Cat-eyez will be returning to the studio soon to complete the songs for his long-awaited sophomore hip hop LP "Cat Scratch Fever". To celebrate, he is announcing the "Tat The Cat" contest for his supporters. He's asking you to design an image/symbol that describes and portrays him as an artist. The winning design will be tattooed onto Prince Cat-Eyez' body (specifically his upper left arm) and will be featured in the artwork for the "Cat Scratch Fever" album. The winning designer will also recieve a personal thank-you letter from P.C.E., an autographed photo of Cat actually getting the tattoo, plus an autographed CD. Rules: Cat wants you to design an image that describes him as an artist, whether it's a picture of a cat with a crown on it's head holding a mic, a tribal band with his name, His initials tricked out, etc. Designs are not to be too intricate or use too many colors (as Cat has only black tattoos). Simple is fine, just make sure it's creative. We don't wanna have Cat in the Tattoo Chair all day now, so concider the session factor as well. HINT: Anything having to do with cats or leopard print will probably catch his eye first.

Plans are underway to convert Anye’s performance at a Pride event into a tribute for the fallen entrepreneur and community leader.  The tribute may include “Just In Case” a unreleased song about gay men who lost their life to violence.
 
The 14th annual Black Gay Pride will be presented during the Labor Day weekend, with many of the events including Anye’s performance being scheduled at the Loews Atlanta Hotel.
