Well, three years – does it seem to have gone by fast or gone by slow? I really don’t  know.

At this point in time I would like to say that OutHipHop.com is going on an indefinite hiatus – there will no longer be regular updates.

OutHipHop.com is presently 99% a ONE MAN operation (and this one man has a full time job already). Throughout time, there have been various contributors, back when we used to do CD Reviews and Mixtape Reviews, mostly courtesy Rex Stone. I would like to say a BIG thanks to Mr. Rex Stone for all his help! He was a huge part in the last year.

I would like to thank everyone who has chosen to blog at the site, for whatever period of time it was:

This “one man” has lost his passion for this, I no longer find it fun or interesting. This is not a reflection of the scene, I think it has made long strides (and of course still has a long way to go but significant progress and recognition has been made) and am proud of each and every person who has got us to where it is today.

I am sure someone else will pick up the ball – I think the work that Steve SirRah Harris has made with GayMusicRevolution.com is a glimpse of the future that is happening now.  I think an out hip hop section of that site will be great. He has the drive, energy, objectivity, and passion to keep things going.

Also Mister Maker’s GayHipHop.com continues to exist and be a great source of the latest music videos and various downloads relative to the genre. DJ Baker continues to integrate more and more of out hip hop artists to his Da Doo Dirty Show as well as other bloggers and podcasts. Continue to utilize the resources out there and your voices will be heard.

 I will be pursuing other side projects that have piqued my interest and will consume my time - working with a local organization to find a way to eradicate the HIV stigma that is pervasive in the gay community as well as volunteering as part of President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign, which will indeed be a very uphill battle.  These things I am one zillion times more passionate about than music right now.

The site will NOT be taken down, and may even be updated at some point in time. If so, notification via Social Networks will occur – The OHH Twitter will remain as will the Facebook – I am not deleting the site, there is a lot of archival information here, there will just be no more “regular (whatever those really were)” updates.  I will retain ownership of the domain and hosting sites and spaces associated with the site.

Captain Magik's recently released album “On the Edge” promises to take him back to his hip hop roots with a hard-hitting edge. “On the Edge” has 14 tracks and includes collaborations with out hip hop artists Drew Mason and Deadlee.  Magik also reached out to singers and MC’s from outside homo hop and included collaborations with Freecansee, Raz, Bobby Jones and Bryan B.  The CD is available for sale and/or download from CD Baby, iTunes and Amazon.

Magik released his first album "Young, Gay and Proud" in 2008.  His music video for the single Dilemma aired regularly on national television on the MTV-owned Logo channel “Click List: Top Ten Videos.” The video was ultimately voted the number one video of 2008 on Logo. “Young, Gay and Proud” received rave reviews from across the US and Magik was featured in Spin Magazine, Instinct Magazine, the LA Times and the Plain Dealer. He has performed at Toronto Pride, opened for RuPaul at Club Circa, and participated in “Street Cred 101,” a live theatre piece about gay hip hop, at the Highways Performance Gallery in Los Angeles.  Dilemma was also named QNation’s Out Hip Hop Song of the Year.
 
Magik is a proud recipient of a 2010 Creative Workforce Fellowship. The Creative Workforce Fellowship is a program of Cleveland's Community Partnership for Arts and Culture, generously funded by Cuyahoga Arts and Culture. He was one of 20 artists chosen from a pool of over 150 to receive a $20,000 artist fellowship.

Chicago rapper QB of Da Midwest was also on hand to premiere his new single "Pass Dat Dutch" produced by DJSOUL and to let everyone know what he has been doing since his release of "Self Made" last year. DJSOUL got his official recording start when he was signed by Edward H Strickland (also signed Queen Latifah, Jungle Brothers, and A Tribe Called Quest while at Tommy Boy Records), through his former manager Lionel Job (Star Point, Joe Public). The label released his smash-hit single "House Work" (hip-house), which stayed on the Billboard Dance Charts for several weeks! Years after the label closed, Tony came out of the closet, and briefly signed to the indie label West End Records' imprint Bangers, through Adam Cruz (VP West End Records).
