DEAR EDITOR
PLEASE HELP YOUR MIXTAPE REVIEWER LEARN THE DIFFERENTS BETWEEN A MIXTAPE AND AN ALBUM. THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO.
We are confident that Rex Stone knows the difference between an album and mixtape (and expect to maybe hear from him soon on this), and that he knows rap and hip hop. We also know that he has some very strong opinions that maybe not everyone agrees with.
We encourage anyone else to pick up the pen so to speak, and write a review of any of these mixtapes and email it to us(humpty@outhiphop.com).
We do ask that you use spellcheck and try not type in all caps(for an official mixtape review, the rest of the time we don't care), but other than that, others are definitely free to step up and be a reviewer as well. We are open to diverse opinions, including those we don't necessarily agree with.
I want to say that I know that I may come off harsh to some people and artist, but it is my opinion and I stand behind everything I say. I clearly know the difference between a mix tape and an album, if not I would not be doing this. They told me that when your doing good you will face adversity and I guess that is what has started to happen this year but I hope that you all see that I am really not trying to be mean. I just know that the industry has certain standards that they hold artist to and I do to.Just because we are gay doesn't mean we can just put out anything and think that it should be a hit or everyone will like it. Any artist that put out a song or album or mix tape should give 110% on everything. Outhiphop.com is the best site on the web for all artist to showcase themselves, just be prepared to hear the truth.

But WHY does this site let the artists release single songs on here?
Instead of seeing these guys put out an entire album or mixtape, we are seeing "Download A New Track by...so and so...".
I think its kinda silly. If these people have skills, then make then wait until the put an entire collection together to release it or give it any press.
Singles are meant for Myspace and YouTube. And half these singles are whack as hell anyway, they record a new song, think its hot, and leak it to OHH...... When in fact they should take the time to get the tracks engineered correctly, and mixed properly. Most of the tracks are sub-par and not even worth the attention.
Set higher standards for '09!

We're really not control freaks(except about people playing games with signing on as different people when they also post under another identity, just had to NOT approve 13 inflammatory comments by LONG DICK RICK who we know to be someone else on the site) ...if people want to release a song for people to download and put in there iPod (or not) versus "listening to it on MySpace", that's something we have the bandwidth and space to give to those who want to use it. You don't have to pay attention to it."

OHH says responds: "Again, that is YOUR opinion. Maybe you should run a record label or manage artists and enforce those standards on your people. This is not OUR role to determine what is whack and what is not whack but to create the venue for people to be able to release the stuff they want and get the feedback from the OHH community as to whether people like it or not or they may simply use it as a place to direct their MySpace friends to download the song. Again, we try not to play the role of Judge and Jury."

OHH says: "ONLY THE ARTISTS can do that. We do not set standards. We are not the ones making this stuff. The Artists need to hold each other accountable for setting standards, not a website. When we start creating standards about what we should and should not post as a website, it becomes impossible to be objective. Personally, I, Humpty only like maybe HALF of what gets posted. But other people love some of the stuff, why should I stop it from being heard just because I don't like it??? Therefore, it's a free for all for ALL of the artists taking the time to record a track."
