"Homohop is knocking on the door of mainstream"
Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 10:30PM I write this blog and I make no apologies for being late with it. The month of February for homohop was boring and lackluster. It sucked like Mariah Carey's last 2 albums and a live performance of Rihanna WITHOUT backup singers. To add to that I had some legal issues that had to deal with. Between seeing Cali's Hunchback releasing MORE diss tracks. (Dude...girly man give it a rest! We know you rhyme circles around Bry'nt and Twizza. Challenge yourself and release a diss track to Bone Intell. (Now that would be interesting!) Even that ole' ass man who writes at least 3 long winded blogs a day that no one reads besides the Hunchback artist that he manages approached me about doing a blog with him to talk about Bry'nt's ex lover putting him on blast in a youtube video.(Seriously?!) Then I go over to Worldstarhiphop.com and see Methjazell's huge dick print flashed all in her "Wack or die” video. I'm sorry I meant "Ride or die boy" video. (Old habits die slow.) It wasn't until recently that I was on that same website and checked out a new gay battle rapper (A real one!) that sparked my interest in doing a new blog. This dude was going toe to toe. Bar for bar at some wack Asian dude in a battle. He killed it on so many levels. He put a smile on my face. (Something that happens very RARELY when it comes to the topic of gay rappers.) The rapper's name is
Dappa Dan Midas. Believe me when I say that this kid is the TRUTH!!
Sometimes when I have free time or there's possibly no other way I can waste my time..... I will take time to listen to latest homohop projects that I see potential in. (Or not)
Anye Elite-"Sneak Peak' mixtape- Seeing this kid in his interviews and youtube videos you get the feel of a modern day Tevin Campbell. Listening to his music not so much. The album starts off with "I got him" and sets the mood for a Trey Songs meets Tyga type of feel. At times his voice is a little cracky but still bearable. "Icon", "Exclusively", "I should be crying” & "I got him" remix are the standout tracks while the rest of the album are barely album fillers. This kid shines mostly on tracks where he is spitting verses & singing the hooks. The production at times was wack and out dated. Also I would have loved to see more features to see how he rides the track with other artists. He needs to venture out on the next project for more up to date production and a few collabos won't hurt either.
J.Knight- "The mixtape before the cd" Before listening to this mixtape J.Knight has always been a better visual artist that I rather look at than listen to. He made me a believer with this mixtape. I’mma just keep this simple and short. Dude you got madd skills on the mic but you need to leave the bedroom and step into a real booth and get yo shit mixed & mastered. End of discussion.
Mr. Teary- "My life Barbie" I think I can say that Gabby Sidibe's signature style is unique and sometimes pathetic. I'm not hating. He shits on mostly all of the other transgender rappers lyrically but that's where it stops. Honestly I liked him better in the movie Precious.....My bad wrong bitch. The beat is wack. The delivery is wack. The song content is wack. (WTF is my life Barbie? MY life-size bear would make a better title.) Here's an idea you should take up a career as a ghost writer that way we don't have to hear you shout "Whoooooo!" all in the damn speakers! WACK SHIT! WACK SHIT!
Loco Menaji ft Bry'nt - "The Take over freestyle” was a hot shitty mess. Even the Pornstar couldn't save this train wreck from derailing. Loco sounds like and LOOKs like the unwanted child of Psycho Sexy & Nicki Menaji. WACK SHIT! WACK SHIT!
Last Offence, Nano Reyes, Shorty Roc ft. Methjazell- Ride or Die boy remix was very impressive.(Mostly due to the fact that I always pushed the stop button before Methjazell's verse) Lasto shined the most on this one. Surprise! Surprise! Shorty Roc held his own and Methjazell came thru with lyrics that I'm sure Lasto penned for her. Nano Reyes was just there but it gave a different and better element than the original version. Can't wait to see the video.
Kynmac- "Boys, boys, boys" Hear me LOUD & CLEAR!!! Just cuz you’re gay and there is a genre called gay hiphop does not mean you need to pick up a mic. (Instead why not pick up a dick. Preferably mine.)
WACK SHIT! WACK SHIT!
M.I.A. "Where da hell you at?"
Diamond Diva is one the first down south fem rappers that I actually took seriously. Her flow delivery and stamina is wicked and very rare for a down south rapper. Never meet her in person but I've heard from various people that have met her describes her as Lamar Odum with a hint of those annoying ass faggets from "In living color's Men on Film". Come back to the game and represent for the fem movement.
Deadlee may lack complex rhyme skills like his peers but he is still a pioneer of homohop. Don’t get me wrong he's being around the last couple of years managing artists but he hasn't step to the mic or released an album in years. Besides a minor beef he had with Bone Intell that he quickly shied away from, (Very very smart move) he has been M.I.A. from the mic.
Dela Cruz is another west coast artist that was very instrumental in the Homorevolution tour days with her hit song "Gay Pride". I had high hopes for this Stud rapper. So I ask the question where is she? Did she get arrested for a drive-by? Has her green card expired? What's the deal?
El Don is a cat not many people may remember as the sexy chocolate east coast Philly rapper that had madd skills and madd sex appeal back in 03-06. Wonder what happen to him? Oh nevermind! Bry'nt has stepped in to to fill that void.
As I close out this month I recalled having a brief but interesting word with a radio Dj friend of mine about how gay hip hop is becoming harder and harder for the mainstream to ignore. He told me that cats are watching and waiting for the money to start rolling in before anybody takes a risk of giving that ill gay rapper a co-sign. He even told me about a certain popular down south rapper that has eyes on a few homohoppers to see if they can spark any regional $uce$$ on their own before an offer is made. Point blank, homohoppers you have 2 options.
Option 1: You can work hard and make your own moves and your own fanbase all while building your brand and releasing quality music for the masses. Selling your music independently or giving it away for free like a dumb ass.
Option 2: You can brag about how you rap and about how you're constantly slept on. Release one track once a year all while claiming that you are the hottest thing since 50 cent .Take up hosting a blog talk radio show with another "misery loves company no name rapper" and talk shit about artists that are doing what your tired ass should be doing.
I'm just sayin. Until next time or whenever the fuck I feel like writing another blog again. If you felt offended go host a bullshit radio show with 1 listener and dedicate the whole hour to how much of an asshole I am or better yet release a shittape(Old habits die hard) I mean mixtape full of disses that no one will listen to even if you paid them.

Way to flip it Mickey! Damn! You're a big phat liar on top of being a terrible blogger. The blog that you and I were supposed to do about Bry'Nt was your idea! You sent me the link...remember? It was YOU who suggested the blog and I was game. I thought it would be something different besides me and you talking shit about one another, but here we go again!
A week after I'd written my blog about BryN't it became clear to me that you probably didn't wanna post your bullshit next to mine, so I posted mine on my site (Khalilamani.ning.com). I guess writing blogs is a true arduous experience for you huh?
Anywhoo... just wanted to clear up the LIE if anyone cares to know the real deal.
And by the way... where can I read the article you claimed you were writing for Ozone Magazine? Nigga's delusional. I thought that was from old age...
like many other gay rappers, I see you be slumming at my door (website), but are afraid to knock (leave a comment). Thanks for letting me know that you're reading my blogs as well! lol! Shout-out to Prince Cat-Eyez!
I couldn't let this dude get away with lying on me! lol! See my new blog, written in 10 minutes! "Mickey Skillz Has a Credibility Problem!" @ The Khalil Amani Reader @www.khalilamani.ning.com
