Welcome to OutHipHop.com

Our goal is to be the primary destination on the internet for ALL "out" hip hop artists (and their FANS) - an all inclusive home for Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals, Transgender (Male to Female AND Female to Male) artists who make ALL forms of rap and every variation of hip hop and are "out" with their sexuality. Rappers in the closet won't touch us with a 10" pole!

Our website will feature Interviews, News, Artist Directory,  Feature Stories, Bulletin Board, and Media for ALL known out artists, past and present. We will showcase new artists as well as feature editorials and stories from people who have been pioneers, back when it was called "homohop" or "gay hip hop".

A. Black Thoughts - 9/24/09

I’ve been quiet for the summer. Mostly because I’ve been enjoying myself and all the cool events. And partly because I’d try to stay away from the bullshit. I’m worried that “OUT” hip-hop isn’t the place for me to have a intelligent conversation about the growth of a movement. I write my blog as a closeted man who loves hip-hop. There doesn’t seem to be room for that in the world of “OUT” hip-hop. The complacency with the bickering and in-fighting is so unwelcoming. I write for the purpose of  promoting the good that this movement represented. But that makes me a singularity in the world of “OUT” hip-hop blogging. To stay above the fray I’ll continue to focus on the positive, after this blog.

First to all my fellow bloggers, what the fuck is wrong with you bitches? Do you not realize that it’s not about you? Of course you don’t because you never were here to promote the movement, the music or the scene. So write about yourselves somewhere else. That’s what I do, if your life is interesting then you will find readers. If not then find something else to do with your time and energy. You attack the artist, they retreat, and then you have lames talking about records on charts no one can find. A critic is fine but the personal attacks are over the top. Than you have people with hidden agenda’s who cover the scene for their own selfish reasons and this movement is just the hot topic they need to get some air time. Khalil, Mickey, and Douche bag Baker are not friends of the movement. And I hope that you the reader, the listener, the interested see them for what they are. There are allies to the movement, seek them out. They’re the ones playing your music and high-lighting the art.

Second has anyone heard Sgt. Sass’s BODY ROCK ep? That shit is the “sure nuff“. I’m such a big fan of there originality. They sound like themselves and that so rear these days. It cost me five bucks and after listen to it for most of the summer I would have paid ten. It’s seven kick ass tracks of shake your ass and have a good time. If you can get a hard copy support these dudes. Hey don’t take my word for it, go catch their live show.

And third I want to show a lot of love to SWERV mag. For the love they’ve shown to the movement. It’s so good to see a real publication taking a interest in the scene beyond a novelty one time article.

Current Thoughts - May 29

There is so much I want to talk about. Where do I start? First let’s talk about promotion over product. I’m all for promotion when you have the product. But promotion for the sake of having your name out there is wack! What’s the point of having your name out there if there’s nothing more than the sensationalism, that just makes you a media whore. In “OUT” hip-hop there has been a lot of this lately. My question is were is the music? Having press and your music is ass is a waist of time. I read about you, than I go to check out your music and it’s bogus. That just makes me say “Why is this corn-ball getting press?”

Next I want to spend a minute talking about is the so-called “style makers” ,there has been some folk who have just popped up out of no where deciding who’s hot and who’s not. They have youtube videos and blogs/pod-cast shows and what have you claiming to be the voice of the people. But they are non-talents that couldn’t be on the artistic side of the microphone. So now there going to knock those with the guts to put themselves out there to be judged. What part of the game is that? I’m half way ready to call a boycott of these media out-lets because in my eyes they do not serve the best interest of the movement. Just know my watchful eye is on you!

Last but not least what’s good with this “super group” stuff? Hello dose “LSG” ring any bells? I’ve never seen it work. When you take established artist and jam them on a project with no insight into what their strength are you get a hot mess. I personally like the two artist that have been mention to be involved. I hope there friends and management are urging them to look beyond this and the momentary gains that will come from it.

Thoughts...

First thing I would like to talk about is Karrine “Super-Head” Steffans. She’s the six degrees of separation epicenter for questionable entertainers and celeb’s . If there’s a gay boy on the low with a contract to dribble a ball, spit in to a microphone, or play a role on a screen, she’ll suck his dick and out him publicly. Now most of the shit that comes out of this chicks mouth is bullshit, granted... but her gaydar is really on the money. I’m saying? A lot of the dudes she claims suck cock better than her already went “bibit, bibit, bibit” on the more attuned gay mans gaydar anyhow. And the fact that this bitch is still running with celeb’s after her book and all the exposure...something’s fishy with this fish! Can we say industry beard. I don’t promote rumors so I’m not going to throw anyone under the “gay bus” but just watch her “had” list and see if it doesn’t ring big gay bells.

Next thing rumbling around my noggin is why do people say they support the movement(LGBT rap scene) constantly and than do things to push the movement backward. There’s this whole “I was here first” thing that’s is always just underneath the surface of a lot actions I see in the community. There’s a lot of talk about unity, but there’s very little kinship. But with that said keep the dis records coming because like it or not that’s part of hip-hop. The competition is good the animosity isn’t, this goes for the bloggers, and other sideline folk as well.

And lastly but not least in my thoughts if you have a perm you gotta take care of it. I do my daily grind and I see these boys with this fucked up pull back ponytails, and it just looks dirty. Get a fucking hair cut or do some maintenance. It’s not cute seriously!
